Is Mathematics a cultural product?

"For White, mathematics is not only a cultural product, but a living culture.
This shift of emphasis has various implications, especially concerning the
dynamical character of mathematics, the importance of implicit knowledge,
and the sociological dimensions of the discipline.
Even if the duality of mathematical realities can partly be explained by
locating them in the intersubjective world of culture, this explanation is not
completely satisfying, because it cannot give any account for the di erence
between mathematics and other disciplines. As long as the similarities be-
tween mathematics and other disciplines concerning their cultural character
are emphasized, we cannot explain why mathematics is in fact experienced
in a di erent why than other disciplines"

- This article talks about how Mathematics is essentially man-made
- As man develops as does Mathematics
- Maths is always expanding and becoming more advanced like a technology
- ways people used to work out sums are now becoming incorrect
