what is it? Cool hunting is a website where users are able to upload and search for images which are considered 'cool'.
why is it cool? The user might consider these images as cool because the image can be associated with the current trend, some of the images also have an element of randomness and fun which will encourage the user to share the image on their social networking page.
what's in it for the user? When the user discovers the image they will find it comical, if the user proceeds to share the image on a social networking website they will gain <3 from people
what is it? Tube Crush is a photo upload website where the user can share their 'find' with other users. The website lists photos users have uploaded of attractive men spotted on the London Underground.
why is it cool? users can rate the images using a thumbs up thumbs down system, they can also chose to 'like' or 'share' the images via Twitter and Facebook. It's cool because the user is giving an opinion which could be seen as critical, as a comparison the school playground is a judgemental place the cool kids tend to be judgemental and their opinion is what matters, it's similar principles rating photos of strangers online.
what's in it for the user? essentially an ego boost, the user has become a judge of what's hot and what's not, once the user judges someone like this they are automatically putting them self above these people. If the image is shared they're showing off this authority.
